HEFAT Courses in Ukraine.

As part of its campaign for the safety of freelance journalists and local field producers in Ukraine, the Frontline Club and Frontline Freelance Register are running a series of HEFAT course in Lviv, Ukraine. The course is designed to be country specific and is aimed at people who will traveling to, and working in, Ukraine's hot spots. The course will be in two sections. The first, security and hostile environment training, will be classroom based in Lviv centre and will cover all aspects of working in a hostile environment.

Western Ukraine’s city of Lviv was struck by four Russian missiles 18th April 2022

Western Ukraine’s city of Lviv was struck by four Russian missiles in the early hours this morning. The death toll rose to seven in the early afternoon.  The sound of air raid sirens wailing across Lviv woke us at 7:45. Our phones started pinging frantically as messages were swapped on social media: there had been a missile strike on Lviv.

Publishing agreements or contracts have a direct impact on the safety of freelance journalists. In partnership with the ACOS Alliance and with the legal support of The Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice, we have developed a template agreement and two supportive documents: Our Model Freelance Publishing Agreement seeks to facilitate an agreement between media companies and freelance journalists on terms that protect the interests and safety of the journalists. State of Freelancing in 2019

Pay directly impacts freelance journalists’ safety wide-ranging survey reveals  FFR announced at the Global Conference on Media Freedom on 10 July, the preliminary results of its survey - The State of Freelancing in 2019. The survey canvassed freelance journalists who are exposed to risk about their work practices and safety concerns.
