JOURNALIST SAFETY IN UKRAINE

Following on from a popular Frontline Freelance Register online event with photojournalist Fabio Bucciarelli at the beginning of the pandemic about how to report on Covid safely, we hosted another event with him focusing on journalist safety in Ukraine.

Fabio has recently returned from spending the first month of the war reporting for several European media outlets. He was in conversation with FFR Board Member Zoe Flood.

HEFAT Courses in Ukraine.

As part of its campaign for the safety of freelance journalists and local field producers in Ukraine, the Frontline Club and Frontline Freelance Register are running a series of HEFAT course in Lviv, Ukraine.

The course is designed to be country specific and is aimed at people who will traveling to, and working in, Ukraine’s hot spots. The course will be in two sections. The first, security and hostile environment training, will be classroom based in Lviv centre and will cover all aspects of working in a hostile environment.

Western Ukraine’s city of Lviv was struck by four Russian missiles 18th April 2022

Western Ukraine’s city of Lviv was struck by four Russian missiles in the early hours this morning. The death toll rose to seven in the early afternoon. 

The sound of air raid sirens wailing across Lviv woke us at 7:45.

Our phones started pinging frantically as messages were swapped on social media: there had been a missile strike on Lviv.

New FFR Board

FFR elects its board through its membership every two years.  From January 2020 and for another 2 years, Zoe Flood, Laura Battaglia al Jalal, Vaughan Smith, Pierre Alozie, Sharron Ward, Anna Lekas Miller and Ramon Campos Iriarte are now elected members of the board of the Frontline Freelance Register.
