Zoe Flood is a journalist and filmmaker, with over ten years of
experience as a freelancer. Zoe writes, shoots and produces for a wide
range of international media – she has worked with outlets including
the BBC, the Guardian, the New York Times, the Washington Post,
Huffington Post, CNN, Channel 4, Sky News and National Geographic.
Zoe's work ranges from covering breaking news events such as the
ouster of Robert Mugabe and the Westgate mall attack to producing
long-form, multi-platform investigations. Most recently, Zoe shot,
produced and directed 'Gamblers Like Me' for BBC Africa Eye, which
looks at the dark side of sports betting across Africa. She was also
part of the BAFTA-winning team that made 'My Son the Jihadi', named
Best Single Documentary in 2016.
Zoe has extensive experience working across sub-Saharan Africa, as
well as in the Middle East and North Africa. She runs a production
company in Nairobi that provides location production support across
the continent – recent clients include the BBC, Channel 4 and CBS 60
Minutes.
She served as Chair of the Foreign Correspondents' Association of East
Africa for two years through end-2017, and remains a Trustee. She is
an IWMF Fellow and a 2017 Marshall Memorial Fellow. Prior to going
freelance, Zoe worked for the International Crisis Group and for IRIN
News (now The New Humanitarian).
