Thalia Beaty is a freelance print and radio journalist based in Germany. An Arabic speaker, she has reported from North Africa and Europe on migration and has covered daily news and politics from New York for The Takeaway, a national public radio program produced at WNYC. She has a Master's in journalism from New York University and a Bachelor's in Middle East Studies from Brown University. She was awarded a CASA fellowship to study Arabic at the American University in Cairo in 2009. She has reported or produced for Making Contact, Al Jazeera America, WNYC, Quartz and OZY.
