Sumy is a freelance journalist and photographer originally from Spain, currently based in Kampala, Uganda. During the past year, she has been extensively covering the South Sudan crisis and the massive influx of refugees into the country.

She is fluent in spoken and written English, French and Spanish. Her work is primarily focused on international current affairs, human rights, women rights, protest and conflict. She has lived and worked in the UK, Uganda, Chile, Mexico, Switzerland and Puerto Rico.
