Ruth Michaelson is a journalist specialising in radio and print work, focusing on the Middle East. Based in Cairo since 2014, she now freelances for outlets such as the Guardian, Newsweek and Monocle. She was previously based in the West Bank, where she also covered Gaza, Jordan, Syria, Turkey and Lebanon to tell the stories of the burgeoning refugee crisis, and focus on telling the stories of women across the Middle East. She is a graduate of the Columbia Journalism School's Stabile Centre for Investigative Journalism, class of 2014, and is constantly looking for new ways to unite her investigative journalism training with her knowledge of the Middle East.
