Mo Scarpelli

Mo Scarpelli is a filmmaker and multimedia journalist. She has reported and produced stories in more than 20 countries, filming and photographing stories for news, non-profit clients, and independent films. Mo is a Director, Producer and Cinematographer behind FRAME BY FRAME, a feature-length documentary film about Afghan photojournalists, which premiered at SXSW 2015, and has gone on to win more than a dozen awards at festivals across the U.S. and abroad. Her reporting has been published or broadcasted on the BBC, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, The Huffington Post, Narrative.ly, RYOT News and Africa Review. Her international nonprofit clients include Aeras, Sabin Vaccine Institute, Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (Future Fortified), Speed School Fund, The END Fund, and charity: water. Before forming her company Rake Films in 2012, Mo spent more than two years directing, shooting, editing and producing media for non-profit organization charity: water. Before that, she managed multimedia content and reported for The Wall Street Journal. Mo earned her chops at Missouri Journalism School, where she also spearheaded multimedia storytelling for traditional news outlets such as KOMU-TV 8 (NBC), KBIA radio (NPR) and The Columbia Missourian. |
