Liam Maloney is a documentary photographer and videographer based in Toronto. As a journalist, he covers stories in the Middle East and East Africa in addition to reporting on domestic issues. His clients include TIME, the Globe and Mail, The Guardian, Foreign Policy, Mother Jones, Maclean's, CBC, Vice, The National, Wondereur, UNHCR, the White Ribbon Campaign and more. His work has been exhibited at Festival Images in Vevey, Switzerland, Photoville in NYC, le Mois de la Photo in Montreal, Tornto's Nuit Blanche and more. His work will be featured in the Open Society Institute's Moving Walls 23 Exhibition this year.
Maloney was a participant in the Eddie Adams Barnstorm workshop, a nominee for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass and a finalist for the Hot Docs Lindalee Tracey Award. He has been nominated for a National Magazine Award and won a Gold Medal at the 2011 COPA. Forsaken: Syrian Refugees in Lebanon was nominated for Picture Story of the Year at the 2014 NPAC POY. He was a finalist for the 2014 Dorothea Lange-Paul Taylor Prize. He is RISC-certified in Battlefield Medical Response and properly equipped for work in hostile environments, and is a member of the Frontline Freelance Network.

His work examines forced migrations and the intersection of technology and intimacy during wartime.
