Find a Freelancer

I am a Canadian freelance journalist based in Europe, covering the refugee crisis, the EU and Ukraine. I write for online news outlets, go on-air for radio and television, as well as shoot and edit video. For the last two years, I covered the Ukrainian crisis, reporting during the revolution in Kiev, the annexation of Crimea and the conflict in the east from both sides of the frontline. I received a Rory Peck Trust bursary to get hostile environment training.

I have contributed video to Al Jazeera and the International Business Times. One of my videos covering the refugee crisis got over a million views online while another one received 496 000 views in one day. I have written for NBCNews.com, The Daily Beast, Al Jazeera, IRIN, The International Business Times, The Sunday Times, Mail Online, Huffington Post UK and the Los Angeles Times. I have also done on-air interviews with BBC (radio and television), Sky News, France 24, Al Jazeera, Monocle Radio and CBC Television.

Prior to being based in Ukraine, I was a journalist in Hungary, most often writing for Al Jazeera Online. I also worked as a producer for Sky News in London and as a producer and news writer for CBC and CTV in Toronto.

I have a MA in journalism from the University of Western Ontario and Honours BA with distinction from the University of Toronto, specialising in political science.
