Alex Hannaford

Alex was born in London in 1974 and spent his early childhood in Nigeria. He cut his teeth in journalism on the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong and the Lymington Times in England before becoming a staff feature writer and then commissioning editor on the London Evening Standard. He went freelance in 2003 and writes about the death penalty, crime, incarceration, migration, religion, culture and human interest issues for publications including the Sunday Telegraph and Sunday Times magazines, The Guardian, GQ, The Atlantic and Texas Observer. He has reported from West Africa, Mexico, Guantanamo Bay and the U.S. and currently calls Texas home. Alex is a 2012 Ochberg Fellow of the Dart Center at Columbia University; a board director of the Ochberg Society; founder of Deadliners Club in Austin, Texas, and a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and Investigative Reporters & Editors |
