Vanessa Bowles is a Lebanese Arabic-speaking director producer, based between London and Beirut. She has produced a number of award winning documentary and current affairs films focused on the Middle East. She has travelled across, and been on shoots in Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Tunis, Jordan and Lebanon. 'Saudi Arabia Uncovered' (2016), won an Emmy award, the Royal Television Society TV journalism award & Jury Grand Prize at the Golden Nymphs. More recently she produced 'Once Upon a Time in Iraq', a 5-part series for BBC Two and PBS Frontline about the invasion of Iraq with multiple-award winning director of BBC Two's Exodus, James Bluemel. She worked on 'Journey in the Danger Zone: Iraq' (2019) and 'House of Saud: A family at War' (2018) for BBC Two and 'My Life: The Palestinian Circus School' for CBBC. She has also collaborated on experimental documentary films, including 'Under Multiple Suns' for Goldsmith University's 'Research Architecture' department, about the contested history of the allied invasion of Lebanon and Syria in 1941, and 'No More Beyond' a video essay about refugees and borders in the Spanish enclave Melilla. |
