Marcin Mamon is a journalist / freelancer and documentary filmmaker based in Krakow, Poland. He has been covering the conflict in Chechnya and Caucasus since 1994'. He writes and takes photos to accompany stories but often collaborates with a professional photographers and videographers for multimedia work like The Intercept NY. He has made a number of documentaries about Chechnya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Gaza Streep, Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, including The Smell of Paradise, for BBC’s Storyville program, "Chechnya. The Dirty War", for Channel 4, and Brüder das Jihad for WDR. He was kidnapped in Syria by al-Nusra Front in November 2015 and relesed 6 weeks later.
