Benedetta Argentieri has been reporting from Iraq and Syria since September 2014, focusing on human rights, refugees, military issues and women. Her work has been published by Quartz, Reuters, Reuters Foundation, Vice News, and others. Benedetta graduated from Columbia Journalism School in 2014. Before becoming a freelancer was a staff writer at Corriere della Sera, a leading Italian newspaper. At first she covered the metro section in Milan, than she was a general assignment reporter at the onlilne section concentrating on social conflict, left wing movements, and the extreme right-wing parties throughout Europe. Benedetta also reported from Cuba, Iran, Turkey, and the US. In 2013 she co-produced Capulcu Voices from Gezi, an award-winning documentary on the Gezi Park protests in Istanbul, Turkey. She is currently working on a documentary about three foreigners joining the YPG, a Kurdish Syrian militia, to fight the so-called Islamic State.
