Ari Beser

Ari Beser is a member of 2017 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons, a Media Lab Fellow at the Economist, a Getty Images contributing photographer, a Fulbright-National Geographic Storyteller, and author of 'The Nuclear Family,' a book that covers American and Japanese perspectives of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He is the grandson of Lt. Jacob Beser, the only U.S. serviceman aboard both bomb-carrying B-29s. He used his Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship to travel through Japan and report on the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the fifth anniversary of the Great East Japan earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear meltdowns in Fukushima. Using photo essays, videos, articles, and an upcoming documentary, Beser gave a voice to people who live with the direct effects of nuclear technology. He continues to shed light on the humanitarian impact of war with his films. |
