Griff moved into photojournalism and video journalism after working as a grip, rigger and set builder for many years in film and television. He worked as a video journalist at Cambodia's respected English language newspaper, The Phnom Penh Post, for close to two years, then went freelance in Africa, working in South Sudan, Burundi, Tanzania and Rwanda. Currently based in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, he is an AFP contributor, as well as working for Al Jazeera, The Guardian, France 24 and TV5Monde. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Journalism from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University.
